Microdermabrasion uses a handheld device to abrade and lift superficial skin cells, while suction helps clear loosened debris. It is used for a dull surface, uneven texture, or mild congestion; it does not reshape facial structure or remove a deep scar. The result depends on the device, pressure, passes, and your skin condition. Mild redness, tightness, dryness, or sensitivity can follow, especially when the skin barrier is delicate.

Tell the practitioner about active acne, eczema, rosacea, cold sores, recent sun exposure, or medicines that make skin sensitive. Arrive with clean skin and follow instructions about pausing irritating exfoliants. Afterward, use a gentle cleanser, bland moisturiser, and broad-spectrum sunscreen; avoid scrubbing, picking, hot treatments, and strong acids until the skin settles. Ask when makeup and active products can be restarted.

Contact the treating clinic if swelling, burning, tenderness, or redness is worsening rather than easing, or if blisters, spreading rash, pus, fever, or marked colour change appears.
