Small bumps centred on hairs can occur with Folliculitis, especially after sweating, shaving, or friction. Acne may affect the face, chest, back, or shoulders, while Hormonal Acne often follows a recurring pattern around hormonal changes. Razor Bumps usually appear where hair was recently removed. Perioral Dermatitis is concentrated around the mouth and can be aggravated by some topical products. Rosacea mainly affects the central face. A clinician needs the full distribution, timing, texture, and medication history to separate these possibilities.

Use a gentle cleanser and plain moisturiser, avoid new fragranced products, and pause shaving or scrubbing over active spots. Wear loose clothing, change after sweating, and avoid picking. Take clear photographs in consistent lighting and write down recent products, medicines, illnesses, travel, and exposures. Do not start several active treatments at once; doing so can irritate skin and hide the original pattern.

Get urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, swelling of the mouth or face, faintness, blistering, skin peeling, severe pain, or a rash with fever or marked illness. Prompt assessment is also appropriate when spots spread quickly, involve the eyes or mouth, become infected-looking, or appear soon after a new medicine. A persistent or recurrent widespread eruption deserves a clinical examination even when you otherwise feel well.

Ask which features point to follicles, acne, irritation, or a medication reaction; whether any medicine should be paused; and whether you need an examination, swab, or other test.
