What should you know about real burn scars?

After a burn heals, scar tissue may be flat, raised, tight, shiny, darker, lighter, itchy, or sensitive. A scar crossing a joint, eyelid, mouth, or neck can restrict movement as it contracts. Colour and texture may continue to evolve during healing, so the right timing for treatment differs between people.
