What should you know about pre cellulitis eye?

Skin around one eye may become warm, red, puffy, and painful. The infection can begin after a scratch, insect bite, sinus problem, or nearby skin infection. Swelling of the eyelid can make the eye look partly closed. Pain with eye movement, reduced vision, double vision, or difficulty moving the eye are more concerning than surface eyelid swelling and need urgent evaluation.

Contact a healthcare service promptly for new redness or swelling around the eye, particularly when it is worsening or accompanied by Fever. Do not press, puncture, or apply leftover creams to the area. Keep hands clean, avoid contact lenses and eye makeup until assessed, and tell the clinician about recent injuries, bites, sinus symptoms, or conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes.

Go to emergency care for vision change, pain when moving the eye, a bulging eye, severe headache, vomiting, confusion, drowsiness, or rapidly increasing swelling. Fever, faintness, fast breathing, or profound weakness can indicate infection affecting the whole body, including Sepsis. Do not wait for the skin to become dramatically red before seeking help.
