What should you know about PLA thread lift?
Updated

Short answer
A PLA thread lift places dissolvable threads beneath the skin to support selected tissues, with results and risks depending on anatomy and technique.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What PLA threads do
PLA means poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable material used in some lifting threads. After local anaesthetic, a clinician guides the threads through planned entry points and positions them in the tissue. The threads can provide immediate structural support while the surrounding tissue responds during healing. This approach is intended for selected areas of mild to moderate laxity, not for removing large amounts of loose skin. Skin quality, facial movement, age, and the degree of sagging affect the visible outcome.
Before and after treatment
Have an assessment covering facial asymmetry, skin thickness, prior fillers or surgery, medicines, and infection risks. Ask which thread material is being used and whether it is appropriate for your area. After treatment, follow advice about facial pressure, chewing, vigorous activity, sleep position, cleansing, and follow-up. Bruising, swelling, tenderness, dimpling, or a pulling sensation can occur while tissues settle. Results are temporary as the material breaks down and ageing continues.
When to seek help
Call the clinic for increasing redness, warmth, drainage, worsening pain, persistent asymmetry, visible thread, or skin that changes colour. Urgent assessment is needed for fever with a worsening wound, sudden facial weakness, or breathing difficulty. Do not pull at a thread or massage a treated area unless the clinician specifically advises it.
Questions to ask
Ask whether your laxity is suitable for a thread lift, what improvement is realistic, how many entry points are planned, and how complications would be managed. Discuss Sun-Damaged Skin, Sagging Skin, Polydioxanone Thread, HIFU Skin Lifting, and Facelift when comparing options.

Questions people ask
Is a PLA thread lift the same as a facelift?
No. A thread lift places dissolvable support threads through small entry points, while a facelift is surgery that repositions tissue and removes selected excess skin.
Can threads become visible?
They can sometimes be felt or become visible, particularly if placed too superficially or if healing is complicated; contact the clinic if this happens.
