PID and hydrosalpinx: what to know

Hydrosalpinx can be associated with pelvic discomfort, unusual discharge or difficulty becoming pregnant, although these features have many causes. The condition concerns the tube rather than the womb. Active PID may require prompt antibiotics, while an established hydrosalpinx may need a separate plan based on symptoms, the other tube and fertility goals. Attend follow-up appointments and complete any prescribed antibiotics exactly as directed. Your clinician may review infection tests, imaging and fertility priorities.
