What should you know about pico skin laser?

A pico device emits pulses that last for a very short interval. Depending on the handpiece and settings, the energy can fragment unwanted pigment or create a controlled effect intended to improve the look of tone and texture. It is a technology platform, not one single treatment plan.

A dermatologist may discuss it for sun spots, uneven tone, dark patches, or selected cases of melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The same mark can need a different approach if it is inflamed, raised, bleeding or changing, so examination comes before cosmetic treatment.

Share your history of tanning, pigmentation changes, keloid scarring, cold sores and sensitive skin. Mention medicines and skincare products, particularly anything that increases irritation or light sensitivity. Do not apply the laser over broken or actively inflamed skin unless the clinician specifically advises it.

Cooling may be used during the appointment. Afterwards, mild redness, warmth, swelling or temporary darkening of treated pigment can occur. Keep the area clean, moisturised and protected from sun; avoid picking flakes and pause irritating products according to the aftercare plan. Session timing is personalised rather than fixed.

Call the clinic if pain becomes marked, swelling continues to increase, or blisters, crusting or unusual colour change appears. Urgent assessment is appropriate for fever, pus or spreading redness. A new or changing pigmented lesion needs medical review instead of being treated as a cosmetic spot.
