What should you know about pico diode laser?

Pico refers to an extremely brief pulse duration. Diode refers to the laser's semiconductor source and is commonly used to describe a wavelength family. A device may be marketed with both terms, but the label alone does not tell you whether the intended target is hair, pigment, or another tissue.

For hair removal, diode energy is absorbed by pigment in the hair follicle and converted to heat, helping impair further growth over a planned course. Suitability varies with hair colour, thickness, skin tone, recent tanning, and medicines. A consultation should also rule out causes of new or unusual hair growth that need medical attention.

Ask the provider to name the device, wavelength, cooling method, and intended target. Disclose tanning, tattoos in the area, active skin disease, medicines, hormonal symptoms, and past reactions. Follow instructions about shaving; do not assume waxing or epilation is compatible with the plan.

Afterward, protect the treated skin from ultraviolet exposure and avoid friction, heat, and unapproved active products while it is sensitive. Mild redness around follicles can occur. Do not pick bumps, and contact the clinic if the reaction becomes painful or spreads.
