What should you know about the Philips 12-channel ECG machine?

A Philips 12-channel ECG machine records the heart’s electrical activity from multiple views during a short clinical examination. Sticky electrodes on the chest and limbs detect electrical signals, and the device displays or prints waveforms for a trained professional to review. It is a recording tool, not a treatment.

The tracing can help clinicians assess rhythm, heart rate, conduction and patterns that may suggest reduced blood flow or strain. A normal-looking recording does not explain every cause of chest symptoms, and an unusual tracing is not a diagnosis on its own. Interpretation depends on symptoms, medical history and comparison with earlier recordings when available.

Wear clothing that allows access to the chest and limbs, keep still and breathe normally while the recording is made. Avoid applying oily lotion to electrode sites because it can reduce contact.
