Perioral Dermatitis Self Care

This condition can cause small bumps, redness, dryness, burning, or tightness around the mouth. It may also involve the nose or eyes. The bumps can resemble Pimples, while the surrounding discomfort may feel like Sensitive Skin. The pattern is worth showing to a dermatologist because several facial rashes look alike.

Keep cleansing gentle and avoid scrubbing, picking, fragranced products, and heavy cosmetics while the skin is unsettled. Review new toothpaste, creams, makeup, and face products with a clinician. Do not start or repeatedly apply Topical Corticosteroids to the rash without medical guidance; they can worsen or prolong this condition in some people. A dermatologist may recommend Topical Antibiotic Therapy or another treatment depending on the examination. Use prescribed products exactly as directed and introduce changes one at a time so irritation is easier to identify.

Arrange a dermatology review if the rash persists, spreads, returns after improving, or is affecting daily comfort. Seek prompt medical advice for eye-area involvement, marked swelling, crusting, pus, severe pain, or changes in vision. These features need assessment rather than more home experimentation.
