Perioral dermatitis redness: what to know

Perioral dermatitis redness can be patchy or ring-like, with small bumps near but not always directly on the lip edge. The skin may feel hot, tight, itchy or sting when products are applied. The same appearance can come from contact dermatitis, rosacea, eczema or infection, so redness alone does not identify the cause. A clinician will review product use, steroid exposure, symptoms around the eyes and the pattern over time.
