The twisted shape can occupy more space than a single straight filament and may be selected for areas needing mild filling or textural support. The clinician chooses the thread form, number, depth, and direction according to anatomy and the intended contour. They are not the same as barbed lifting threads, and they do not provide the same mechanical effect as surgery.

Treatment may leave temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness, tightness, or a cord-like feeling. Unevenness can be visible during early healing. Infection, inflammation, thread exposure, migration, or a persistent lump should be assessed by the treating clinician.
