What should you know about PDO threads under the eyes?

The lower eyelid has thin skin and sits close to the eye, tear drainage system, and important blood vessels. A clinician must distinguish hollowness, fine lines, skin laxity, puffiness, pigmentation, and bags because threads cannot correct every cause. Placement is planned conservatively, and the expected change is usually subtle rather than a replacement for eyelid surgery or treatment of a medical eye problem.

Bruising, swelling, tenderness, tightness, and temporary asymmetry can follow treatment. Thread visibility, infection, persistent inflammation, or an uneven contour need review. Avoid judging the final appearance while swelling is still changing.

Tell the clinician about dry eye, recent eye procedures, allergies, medicines, and bleeding or healing problems. After treatment, avoid rubbing the eyelids, heavy exertion, makeup until the entry points have closed, and pressure from sleeping on the area if advised. Use only recommended compresses or products, and return for assessment if the threads feel tight or the appearance changes unexpectedly.

Contact the clinic for increasing redness, warmth, discharge, fever, worsening pain, or swelling that is not settling. Sudden vision change, severe eye pain, double vision, marked eyelid swelling, or difficulty moving the eye requires urgent assessment. Do not massage, pull, or cut a thread near the eye.
