What should you know about how long PDO threads last?

The visible change depends on thread design, placement, skin laxity, facial movement, tissue quality, and the area treated. Some of the early lift comes from positioning the tissue, while later appearance reflects healing and collagen remodelling around the threads. Absorption does not mean that every visible change disappears on one predictable day; the result can soften gradually and may be subtle. A thread lift also does not stop natural skin ageing, muscle movement, or changes in weight, so a practitioner should describe a range of possible experiences rather than promise a fixed endpoint.

Ask which thread type and placement are proposed, what improvement is being measured, and when the result will be reviewed. Take baseline photographs in consistent lighting if your clinician uses them for comparison. Protect treated skin from excess sun exposure and follow aftercare instructions, especially around pressure and strenuous activity. Do not schedule repeat treatment simply because the initial swelling has faded; allow the planned review to distinguish settling from loss of effect.

Duration is not the same as safety. Contact the clinic for increasing pain, spreading redness, heat, drainage, persistent severe tenderness, new contour distortion, or an exposed thread. Seek urgent help if swelling affects breathing or swallowing, or if sudden facial weakness or vision change develops.

Ask what result is realistic for your skin, how long the clinic usually follows patients, what may shorten or change the effect, and which alternatives could address laxity more directly.
