PDO thread eye lift: what to know

The clinician places fine polydioxanone threads beneath carefully selected skin planes to create support and trigger a healing response that may improve firmness. Around the eyes, the aim may be a modest brow or outer-eye elevation rather than removal of eyelid skin. Threads cannot correct every cause of hooding, including prominent eyelid skin, brow position, muscle activity, or changes involving the eyelid itself.

Because the area is thin and mobile, swelling, bruising, asymmetry, tightness, and temporary difficulty opening the eyes fully may occur. Your clinician should examine the eyelids and brows, ask about eye disease and previous surgery, and explain whether another approach is more suitable.

Bring a complete list of medicines and supplements, disclose allergies and previous eye or facial procedures, and mention dry eye, visual symptoms, or problems closing the eyelids. Follow personalised instructions about cleansing and medicines; do not alter prescribed treatment on your own.

During early healing, avoid rubbing the eyes, pressing on the brow, strenuous activity, facial massage, and cosmetics near entry points until cleared. Sleep with your head supported if advised and attend follow-up, when the clinician can distinguish normal settling from a positioning or wound problem.

Contact the clinic urgently for worsening pain, spreading redness, increasing swelling, discharge, inability to close an eye, or a thread that is exposed. Seek emergency assessment for sudden vision change, severe eye pain, marked headache with eye symptoms, facial weakness, or trouble breathing. Do not pull, cut, or reposition a thread yourself.

Ask whether the hooded appearance comes mainly from the brow, eyelid skin, or another structure; what improvement is realistic; how eye function will be protected; what alternatives exist; and how quickly you can be examined if vision, eyelid closure, or pain changes.
