What should you know about PDO screw threads?

A screw, or spiral, design contains more material along a short length than a straight thread. Clinicians may use that shape where they want local soft-tissue support or a subtle contour effect. The thread is inserted through a small entry point, and the body gradually breaks down the material over time. Any visible change also depends on swelling, skin laxity, facial movement and the placement plan.

This is not the same as a surgical facelift. It does not remove loose skin, and it cannot reproduce every surgical contour change. A consultation should match the technique to the area being treated and to the amount of laxity present.

Tell the clinician about medicines that affect bleeding, allergies, previous thread procedures, active acne or infection, and conditions that affect healing. Confirm the exact thread material, insertion points and expected downtime. Afterward, follow instructions about washing, sleeping position, facial movement, exercise and pressure. Do not pull at a visible thread or massage a tender area unless the treating team tells you to.

Bruising, tightness, tenderness and temporary asymmetry may follow insertion. Call the clinic if these symptoms intensify, if redness spreads, if the area feels hot, if drainage appears, or if a thread becomes exposed. Urgent assessment is needed for severe pain, fever with marked swelling, vision changes, facial weakness or trouble breathing.
