Ovulation pain and painful intercourse

Pain may be linked to lubrication, pelvic-floor tension, infection, irritation, or a condition affecting pelvic organs. Endometriosis can present with pain during intercourse, and Ovarian Cysts can also cause pelvic pain or discomfort with pressure. Timing around ovulation can offer a clue but does not establish the cause. Pain is a reason to pause, not something you need to push through.

Stop if penetration hurts and discuss what you feel with your partner. More time for arousal, a water-based lubricant, positions that limit depth, and slower movement may reduce friction or pressure. Avoid fragranced washes and internal cleansing. Keep a symptom record covering cycle day, depth or location of pain, lubrication, bleeding, discharge, urinary symptoms, and whether pain continues afterward.

Book an appointment if pain happens repeatedly, lasts after intercourse, is deep or worsening, or affects your relationships or daily life. Seek prompt care for fever, unusual discharge, sores, bleeding after intercourse, burning urination, or pelvic pain with pregnancy possibility. Urgent help is appropriate for sudden severe pain, fainting, heavy bleeding, or repeated vomiting.

Ask whether the pain pattern suggests dryness, pelvic-floor tension, infection, Endometriosis, an Ovarian Cyst, or another cause, and whether an examination or testing is needed. Say whether pain is at entry or deep, and mention contraception, recent procedures, new products, and pregnancy possibility.
