Ovulation pain while pregnant

Mild stretching or pressure can occur as pregnancy changes the uterus and surrounding tissues, but pain can have many causes. Constipation, urinary problems, infection, or a pregnancy-related complication may also produce lower abdominal discomfort. An [Ovarian Cyst](/conditions/ovarian-cysts/) or [Endometriosis](/conditions/endometriosis/) can be relevant to a person’s history, but neither should be diagnosed from pain location alone. The timing, severity, bleeding, and other symptoms help guide assessment.

Contact your maternity team or clinician and describe where the pain is, when it began, whether it comes in waves, and what makes it better or worse. Rest, change position, and drink fluids if you have been advised that this is suitable for you. Do not start pain medicine, supplements, or home treatment without checking that it is appropriate in pregnancy. Keep your antenatal appointments and mention any new symptom.

Seek urgent medical care for severe or one-sided pain, vaginal bleeding, shoulder-tip pain, fainting, dizziness, fever, repeated vomiting, painful urination, fluid leakage, regular tightening, or reduced fetal movement when you are at a stage where movements are expected. Do not wait for pain to become more severe if you feel seriously unwell.

Ask what examination or scan is appropriate, which symptoms would require immediate review, and which pain-relief measures are safe for your stage of pregnancy. Share your gestational age, previous pregnancies, and any bleeding or discharge.
