The Nd:YAG laser delivers focused light into selected tissue. The purpose and visible response depend on the treatment area and the concern being addressed. Immediately after a session, skin may look pink or flushed and may feel warm, tight, or tender. Small areas of swelling can also appear. These reactions generally reflect temporary irritation from the treatment, but your clinician should explain what is expected for your specific procedure.

A photograph taken later may show gradual change rather than an instant result. Hair may shed over time after hair removal, while vascular or pigment-related concerns may need assessment across more than one visit. Before-and-after photographs are useful only when lighting, angle, treatment settings, and healing time are comparable; an online image cannot predict your individual result.

Attend a consultation with clean skin and tell the clinician about recent tanning, active rashes, cold sores, medicines, and previous laser procedures. Follow the clinic's instructions about sun exposure, shaving, and products applied to the area. Do not conceal a new skin change or an infection.

After treatment, keep the area gently clean, avoid rubbing or picking, and use the recommended soothing product. Protect treated skin from direct sun with clothing and the sunscreen advised by your clinician. Pause irritating products, heat exposure, and strenuous activity if your aftercare instructions recommend it. Arrange follow-up if the expected improvement is unclear or the reaction is not settling.

Contact the treating clinic promptly if pain is worsening rather than easing, swelling is spreading, blisters or open areas develop, or the skin becomes increasingly hot, tender, or draining. Seek urgent care for trouble breathing, facial swelling, or a rapidly spreading reaction. A change in colour that persists, or any concern about a burn or infection, deserves a clinician's review.
