What should you know about a mono thread lift?

A clinician places fine polydioxanone threads beneath the skin through small entry points. Because mono threads have no barbs, they do not grip and reposition loose tissue like some thread-lift designs. Their intended effect is usually a subtle change in skin firmness or texture that develops as the material is absorbed and the surrounding tissue remodels. The outcome depends on the treated area, the degree of sagging, skin quality, and the clinician’s technique. Marked laxity may need a different discussion.

Have an assessment that covers your goals, facial movement, skin condition, previous procedures, medicines, and any tendency to form prominent scars. Ask for a clear map of the insertion sites and an aftercare plan. For a period after treatment, avoid pressure on the treated area, vigorous activity, and unapproved massage. Swelling, bruising, tenderness, and temporary asymmetry can occur during healing. Photos taken only after the initial settling period are more useful for judging change.

Tell the clinic about increasing pain, warmth, spreading redness, pus, fever, or a thread that can be seen or felt at the surface. Arrange prompt review for persistent dimpling, marked asymmetry, or new difficulty moving part of the face. Emergency care is needed for severe allergic symptoms, rapidly expanding facial swelling, or breathing or swallowing difficulty.
