A trained practitioner selects thread type, entry points and direction according to the area being treated. Some threads are smooth and intended mainly for skin quality; others have features that help create lifting support. The material is gradually broken down by the body, so the visible effect changes over time rather than behaving like a lasting implant.

Treatment may cause tenderness, swelling, bruising, tightness or small areas of unevenness while the skin settles. Results depend on skin laxity, anatomy, thread placement and the plan chosen for you. PDO threads are not a substitute for surgery when substantial excess skin needs removal.
