What should you know about mila white spots?

Milia often feel hard and sit just under the surface, commonly around the eyes, cheeks, or nose. They are different from pus-filled pimples because they do not usually empty when pressed. Similar-looking spots may occur with acne, folliculitis, perioral dermatitis, rosacea, or irritation from a product. Shaving-related bumps can also resemble small pale or skin-coloured spots.

A clinician can identify the pattern by checking size, texture, distribution, redness, itch, and duration. A white spot that changes, bleeds, becomes painful, or fails to fit the usual pattern deserves an examination.

Do not pick, lance, or scrub the spots, especially near the eyes. Use a gentle cleanser and non-comedogenic moisturiser, and pause any product that clearly stings or worsens the area. If milia persist, a trained clinician can remove them with a suitable sterile technique or discuss a treatment matched to your skin. Do not use strong acids near the eyelids without professional advice.
