What should you know about microcellular lung cancer?

Microcellular is an older term often used for small-cell lung cancer. It describes the appearance of the cancer cells under a microscope, not a symptom. Small-cell lung cancer can grow and spread quickly, so clinicians assess the chest and other areas with scans, tissue testing, and blood tests. The team may classify it as limited-stage or extensive-stage disease according to where it is found.
