What should you know about IGH skin spots?

Red or skin-coloured bumps around hairs can occur with folliculitis or razor bumps. Acne may produce blackheads, whiteheads, inflamed papules, or deeper tender lesions. Hormonal acne often follows a recurring pattern around hormonal changes. Burning or scaling around the mouth may fit perioral dermatitis, while persistent facial flushing and visible vessels can accompany rosacea.

A clinician considers whether the spots itch, hurt, drain, scale, or leave dark marks. Do not assume a label from an abbreviation or photograph alone.

Cleanse gently, avoid picking, and pause harsh scrubs or fragranced products. If shaving triggers bumps, use a clean razor, shave with the direction of growth, and avoid very close passes.
