Thyroid hormone levels can move from low to high when prescribed replacement is more than the body currently needs, when a dose or product changes, or when an inflamed thyroid releases stored hormone. Symptoms such as palpitations, heat intolerance, sweating, anxiety, diarrhoea, or difficulty sleeping can fit an overactive pattern, but symptoms alone cannot confirm it.

Contact the prescriber or clinic that manages your thyroid and provide both sets of results, medicine labels, and the dates they were taken. Do not double doses, stop treatment suddenly, or start iodine or thyroid supplements without specific advice. Limit stimulants if they worsen a racing heartbeat, and note pulse sensations, sleep, bowel changes, sweating, and weight change for the review.

Get urgent help for chest pain, fainting, severe breathlessness, confusion, or a very fast or irregular heartbeat. Seek prompt assessment for persistent palpitations, marked weakness, dehydration from diarrhoea, or rapidly worsening symptoms. A sudden severe deterioration is an emergency regardless of the thyroid result.
