Hypopigmented MF

MF can be used informally for more than one skin concern. Hypopigmented may describe skin that looks lighter than nearby skin, while MF may be intended as a diagnosis or simply shorthand in a message. The appearance of a patch, spot, or pimple does not establish its cause. A clinician will ask about onset, itch, scale, tenderness, shaving, products, and whether marks follow inflammation. Write out what MF means in your report or appointment note, and bring photographs showing the area before and after it changed. Do not use strong lightening products or steroid combinations without an examination, since irritation can make uneven colour more noticeable.

Arrange dermatology review if the light areas persist, spread, recur, or follow a rash that is not settling. Seek prompt care for rapidly worsening redness, painful swelling, pus, fever, eye involvement, or a severe reaction to a product.
