What should you know about high lipids blood test?

A lipid panel may include total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides. Each part has a different meaning, and the balance matters more than a single label. Your clinician also considers blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, kidney function, medicines and family history when deciding whether the result needs action.

High lipids often cause no noticeable symptoms. The result is not a diagnosis of a specific condition by itself.
