Headache due to gas and acidity: what to know

Short answer
Gas and acidity can accompany a headache through discomfort, reflux, poor eating or dehydration, but the headache needs its own assessment if it is severe, new or persistent.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

- Digestive discomfort does not explain every headache
How digestive symptoms may fit
Bloating, belching, burning behind the breastbone or a sour taste can make you feel unwell and may disturb eating or sleep. Skipping meals, vomiting, loose stools and drinking too little can also leave you dehydrated, which may trigger head pain. The digestive symptoms do not prove that they caused the headache; migraine, viral illness, sinus problems, stress and medication effects can feel similar.
Notice whether the pain follows a particular meal, reflux episode or period without fluids. Record its location, severity, timing and associated symptoms. A recurring pattern deserves a clinician's review, especially if heartburn or abdominal discomfort is frequent.
What you can try
Rest somewhere quiet, sip water, and choose small, plain meals if eating feels difficult. Avoid lying flat soon after eating, and reduce foods or drinks that repeatedly worsen your reflux. Follow the label of any over-the-counter antacid and check with a pharmacist if you take other medicines, are pregnant or have kidney problems. Do not repeatedly treat a new headache without checking its pattern.
When to seek care
Seek urgent help for a sudden extremely severe headache, weakness, confusion, fainting, trouble speaking, a stiff neck with fever, repeated vomiting, chest pain, black stools or blood in vomit. Arrange medical review if headaches keep returning, change character, wake you, follow a head injury or do not settle as the digestive symptoms improve.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether reflux, dehydration, migraine or a medicine could explain the pattern, which symptoms would change the urgency, and whether your stomach treatments are suitable with your other medicines.

Questions people ask
Can gas directly cause a headache?
Gas may add discomfort or coincide with dehydration, missed meals or reflux, but a headache can have a separate cause.
When should acidity and headache be checked?
Arrange a review when either symptom is frequent, worsening, unusually severe or accompanied by bleeding, persistent vomiting or neurological changes.
