Hair removal with a diode laser machine

Diode laser energy is absorbed more strongly by pigmented hair than surrounding skin, creating heat around the follicle. It works best when the hair contains enough pigment to absorb the energy, while very light, grey, or white hair may respond poorly. Results vary with hair colour, thickness, body area, skin tone, and the device settings.

Choose a trained provider who assesses your skin and hair before treatment and explains eye protection, cooling, and test areas. Follow instructions about sun exposure and products, and avoid plucking from the root before a session because the follicle needs to contain the target hair. Shaving may be advised instead.

Contact the provider for blistering, severe pain, marked swelling, spreading redness, or pigment changes after treatment. Get medical advice for symptoms that worsen or do not settle, especially on recently tanned, irritated, or inflamed skin.
