Short answer

Grappa psoriatic arthritis refers to psoriatic arthritis, an inflammatory condition that can cause painful, swollen, and stiff joints.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What it means

Psoriatic arthritis can affect fingers, toes, knees, feet, the spine, or other joints. A joint may feel warm, tender, or swollen, and stiffness can be more noticeable after rest or on waking. Skin or nail psoriasis may be present, but joint symptoms can also need assessment when skin changes are subtle or absent. The pattern can vary over time, so a clinician considers your symptoms, examination, medical history, and sometimes imaging or blood tests.

Joint pain, joint swelling, and morning joint stiffness are useful symptoms to describe during an appointment. They do not by themselves establish the cause.

What you can do

Arrange a medical review if joint symptoms persist, recur, or interfere with walking, gripping, sleep, or work. Keep a short record of which joints are affected, when stiffness occurs, any psoriasis or nail changes, and whether symptoms improve with movement. Treatment may include an individualized exercise plan, medicines that reduce inflammation, and care for skin or nail disease. Physiotherapy can help maintain movement, strength, joint protection, and confidence with daily activities.

Do not stop prescribed medicine or begin a new anti-inflammatory medicine without checking whether it is suitable for you, especially if you have stomach, kidney, heart, or blood-pressure concerns.

When to seek care

Seek prompt medical advice for a newly swollen joint, rapidly worsening pain, marked warmth or redness, fever, or difficulty using the limb. Seek urgent help if severe symptoms develop suddenly, you feel very unwell, or a joint injury is followed by inability to bear weight. These features can have causes other than psoriatic arthritis and should not be assessed by symptom frequency alone.

Questions for your doctor

Ask which findings support psoriatic arthritis, whether another condition needs exclusion, what monitoring is needed, and how exercise or medication should fit your daily routine.

Questions people ask

Can psoriatic arthritis affect joints without obvious psoriasis?

Yes. Joint symptoms can occur when skin or nail changes are mild, overlooked, or not currently visible, so assessment should consider the whole pattern.

Can physiotherapy help with psoriatic arthritis?

A tailored programme can support joint movement, strength, pacing, and safer participation in everyday activities.
