What should you know about Gatorade for acid reflux?

Acid reflux happens when stomach contents move back into the oesophagus, causing burning, sour taste, regurgitation, cough, or chest discomfort. An electrolyte drink may be useful for replacing fluid in selected situations, but it does not prevent reflux. A drink's acidity, flavouring, sweetness, or volume may trigger symptoms in an individual. Reflux can also be associated with a hiatus hernia or obesity, while persistent cough may need separate assessment.

Notice whether the drink reliably triggers burning, cough, or regurgitation, and choose water or another suitable fluid if it does.
