Gamot sa folliculitis: treatment and care

Folliculitis is inflammation around a hair follicle. It can present as itchy or tender red bumps, small pimples, or pus-filled spots, often where shaving, sweating, tight clothing, or rubbing irritates the skin. Ingrown hairs can create a similar bump. Folliculitis may be bacterial, yeast-related, or mainly irritation, and the correct treatment depends on that distinction.

The rash can affect the scalp, beard area, chest, back, buttocks, or legs. Scratching and squeezing can break the skin and spread irritation.

Pause shaving or waxing over active bumps, use a clean razor when you resume, and choose loose, breathable clothing. Wash gently after sweating and avoid heavy oils or occlusive products over the area. A clinician may recommend topical antibiotic therapy for selected bacterial cases; oral antibiotics for skin infection are reserved for situations where they are appropriate. Do not use leftover antibiotics, because the wrong medicine may not help and can irritate the skin.

Arrange an examination if bumps recur, spread, form larger boils, cause hair loss, or fail to improve after removing the trigger. Seek prompt care for increasing warmth, swelling, severe pain, pus, or redness extending beyond the original area. Fever, chills, or feeling faint with a spreading skin infection warrants urgent medical attention.

Ask whether the cause appears bacterial, yeast-related, or irritant; whether a topical antibiotic is suitable; how to shave safely later; and which warning signs should bring you back sooner.
