What should you know about full face pdo threads?

Short answer

Full-face PDO threads are absorbable polydioxanone threads placed under the skin for selected lifting or tissue-support goals, not a replacement for surgery.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How PDO threads work

During a Thread Lift, a clinician guides smooth or barbed threads through planned facial tissue planes. Barbs can provide mechanical support, while the body gradually absorbs the Polydioxanone Thread. The aim may be subtle repositioning, improved contour or support in areas such as the cheeks, jawline or brows. Threads do not remove excess skin, replace lost volume in every area or stop natural ageing. Results depend on anatomy, thread design, placement and healing.

Planning and aftercare

Choose a qualified medical practitioner who can explain the thread design, entry points, expected change and alternatives. Share information about medicines that affect bleeding, allergies, infections, previous procedures and healing problems. After placement, follow instructions about facial movement, pressure, exercise, sleeping position and skincare. Mild tenderness, swelling, bruising or a temporary pulling sensation can occur. Avoid manipulating a visible or palpable thread and attend the planned review.

When to seek care

Contact the clinic for worsening pain, increasing redness, warmth, discharge, fever, skin dimpling that does not improve, or a thread that becomes exposed. Seek urgent care for facial weakness, severe swelling, breathing difficulty or vision changes. Early review can help distinguish expected healing from infection, migration or another complication.

Questions for your doctor

Ask which facial areas need support, whether smooth or barbed threads are planned, how removal would be handled if needed, and which daily activities should be limited during healing.

Questions people ask

Are PDO threads the same as a surgical facelift?

No. PDO threads provide selected support through small insertion points and do not remove excess skin like facelift surgery.

What should be reported after thread placement?

Worsening pain, spreading redness, discharge, fever, exposed thread, facial weakness or vision changes need medical review.
