What should you know about full body microdermabrasion?

A handheld device moves across clean skin, using a mildly abrasive tip or crystals with suction to lift surface cells. The provider may work on areas such as the back, chest, arms, or legs, but healthy intact skin is assessed first. It is a surface treatment and does not remove deeper scars or diagnose a rash.

Short-lived pinkness, tightness, dryness, or sensitivity may follow. Active infection, open wounds, inflamed eczema, or easily irritated skin can require postponement.

Tell the provider about active breakouts, cold sores, dermatitis, recent procedures, and products or medicines that make your skin fragile. Arrive with clean skin and avoid harsh scrubs beforehand. Afterward, use gentle cleansing, moisturiser, and broad sun protection; do not pick at flaking skin.

Resume exfoliating products only when the skin feels settled and the provider agrees. A gentler plan or a different option, such as a chemical peel, may be more suitable for the intended concern.

Contact the clinic for increasing pain, intense swelling, pus, spreading redness, blisters, or irritation that does not start settling. Seek urgent care for facial swelling, breathing difficulty, or signs of a severe allergic reaction. Do not abrade a changing mole or unexplained patch before it has been examined.
