What should you know about full body hijama?

Short answer
Full-body hijama uses cups over several body areas and may leave temporary marks, skin irritation, or small wounds.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.
At a glance
- Methods
- Dry cupping uses suction; wet cupping also opens the skin

- Circular marks and tenderness can occur
- Safety priority
- Clean technique and careful screening
What hijama involves
Hijama is a form of cupping. Dry cupping uses suction on intact skin; wet cupping adds small skin openings before suction and therefore has bleeding and infection concerns. Cups can create circular bruising, tenderness, tightness, or itching as the skin recovers. Any relief from muscle discomfort may be short-lived and should not replace assessment of the underlying problem.
If your concern is back muscle spasm or upper-back pain, the pattern, duration, injury history, and neurological symptoms matter more than the location of a cup mark.
How to reduce avoidable risk
Choose a qualified practitioner who uses sterile, single-use equipment for any skin piercing and explains consent, aftercare, and possible bleeding. Share your medicines and medical history, especially blood thinners, bleeding disorders, diabetes, immune problems, anaemia, pregnancy, or a skin infection. Do not place cups over broken or infected skin. Keep wet-cupping sites clean and dry as instructed, and avoid scratching or picking scabs.
When to seek care
Seek medical care for spreading redness, increasing warmth, pus, fever, worsening swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, or severe pain after hijama. Get urgent help for fainting, breathing trouble, or an allergic reaction. Contact a clinician if bruising is extensive, wounds are slow to heal, or the original pain is accompanied by weakness, numbness, or loss of bladder or bowel control.
Questions for your doctor
Is cupping suitable with my medicines and health conditions? Would dry cupping be lower risk than wet cupping for my goal? How should I care for the sites? Which symptoms suggest the pain needs another diagnosis?

Questions people ask
Does full-body hijama remove the cause of pain?
No. It may change local discomfort for a time, but it cannot diagnose or correct a spinal, joint, nerve, or muscle condition.
When should hijama be avoided?
Avoid treatment over infected or broken skin and seek medical advice first when bleeding, circulation, immune, pregnancy, or healing concerns apply.
