Chickenpox is a viral illness that commonly causes an itchy rash progressing through fluid-filled spots and scabs. Fucidin contains fusidic acid, an antibiotic, so it cannot stop the chickenpox virus or prevent new spots from appearing. Scratching can break the skin and allow bacteria to enter. Increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pain, pus, or worsening tenderness around a spot may indicate a secondary skin infection. Keep fingernails short, wash hands, and avoid scratching or picking the spots. Use gentle bathing and loose clothing, and ask a pharmacist or clinician which itch-relief product is suitable.
