Forehead wrinkles when you raise your eyebrows

When the frontalis muscle lifts the eyebrows, the overlying skin folds. Early lines may disappear when your face relaxes; with time, collagen changes, dryness and ultraviolet exposure can make them visible at rest as well. Facial expressions are normal and do not by themselves signal a skin disease. Sun-damaged skin can deepen lines, while lines around the outer eyes are a separate pattern often called crow's feet.

Use broad-spectrum sunscreen, protective clothing and a moisturiser suited to your skin. Avoid tanning and harsh routines that leave the area irritated. A clinician can assess whether a movement-relaxing injectable such as Botox fits your goals; dermal fillers are used for selected depressions but are not interchangeable with muscle treatment. Treatment choice depends on anatomy, expression, skin quality, medicines and medical history.

Arrange a dermatology review if lines change suddenly, follow a new rash, become painful, itch persistently, or appear with swelling or weakness. Seek prompt care for facial weakness, severe headache, vision changes or other sudden neurological symptoms. For cosmetic concerns, an in-person assessment helps distinguish expression lines from another skin problem before treatment.

Ask whether your lines are dynamic or present at rest, what sunscreen and retinoid options suit your skin, and whether Botox or dermal fillers address the specific pattern. Ask about expected visible changes, bruising, temporary weakness, aftercare and alternatives.
