Forehead PDO threads: what to know

Polydioxanone is a material used in absorbable medical threads. In an aesthetic procedure, a clinician places selected threads under the skin through small entry points. Some designs are intended to support or reposition tissue, while finer threads may be used for a subtler texture-focused approach. They do not replace a surgical forehead lift and cannot correct every cause of forehead lines.

Choose a licensed, experienced clinician who can explain the thread design, insertion route, expected result, alternatives, and aftercare. Share allergies, medicines, bleeding problems, immune conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and previous facial procedures. Afterward, follow instructions about cleansing, facial massage, exercise, heat, and sleeping position while the area settles.

Temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness, tightness, dimpling, or unevenness can occur. Threads can also migrate, become visible, irritate tissue, or contribute to infection. Ask how these problems would be treated and when review is needed.

Contact the treating clinic for worsening pain, redness, warmth, drainage, fever, a thread becoming exposed, or a new persistent contour change. Seek urgent help for facial swelling with breathing difficulty, severe headache, weakness, confusion, or vision change. Do not pull an exposed thread or attempt to trim it yourself.

Ask which threads are proposed and why, where they will enter, what alternatives exist, how long healing may take, how complications are handled, and whether a follow-up examination is included.
