The bumps may sit where pubic or inner-thigh hair grows and can resemble pimples. Friction, sweating, tight clothing, shaving, waxing, or an ingrown hair can irritate a follicle. Bacteria or another type of inflammation may also be involved. A groin rash can have other causes, so location alone does not confirm folliculitis.
