What should you know about FET after polyp removal?

A polyp is a growth from the lining of the uterus. Removing it can allow the lining and the uterine cavity to be reassessed before an embryo transfer. FET means frozen embryo transfer: an embryo stored from earlier fertility treatment is thawed and placed in the uterus during a prepared cycle.

The timing is individual. Healing, bleeding pattern, the removal method, pathology findings, and the appearance of the lining on ultrasound can all affect the plan. Removal does not by itself guarantee implantation or pregnancy.

Follow the discharge instructions about activity, intercourse, tampons, and medicines. Keep the review appointment so your clinician can discuss the polyp result and decide whether the cavity needs imaging before transfer.

Ask when to begin or stop oestrogen and progesterone if these are part of your protocol. Contact the clinic if bleeding, cramps, discharge, or fever is more than expected, and do not alter fertility medicines without guidance.

Seek prompt medical advice for heavy bleeding, increasing pelvic pain, fever, foul-smelling discharge, dizziness, or fainting after the procedure. Urgent care is appropriate if pain is severe, you feel very unwell, or bleeding does not settle.

Ask whether pathology changed the plan, how healing will be checked, whether another cavity assessment is needed, and which cycle will be used for FET. Clarify the medicine schedule and the symptoms that should delay transfer.
