Face Mask for Perioral Dermatitis

Perioral dermatitis causes small bumps, redness, dryness, or burning around the mouth and sometimes the nose or eyes. Occlusion, rubbing, fragrance, acids, essential oils, and drying ingredients in a mask may increase irritation. The bumps can resemble Pimples, but treating them as ordinary acne can prolong discomfort. Skin Sensitivity around the affected area is also common.

Stop new masks and avoid scrubs, peeling products, and heavy layers over the rash. Wash with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser, then pat dry. Do not apply a Topical Corticosteroids product unless the prescriber specifically directs it; steroid creams can worsen or mask this condition.
