Eye wrinkles

Lines at the outer corners often deepen when you smile or squint and may later remain visible at rest. Fine creasing under the eyes can be influenced by dryness and delicate skin. Sun-damaged skin may show uneven tone and texture as well as lines. These appearances are not a diagnosis of illness; an in-person review is useful when a change is new, unusual, or associated with other symptoms.

Apply sunscreen around the eye area as directed, wear sunglasses, avoid tanning, and use a gentle cleanser with a moisturiser that does not sting. A retinoid may help selected people with texture, but it can irritate eyelid skin and should be introduced only with suitable medical guidance. Botox can soften movement-related lines. Dermal fillers may be considered for carefully selected hollows or volume changes, but they are not a universal solution for fine surface creases.

Arrange a medical review for a rapidly changing line or lesion, persistent irritation, a new eyelid lump, crusting, bleeding, or one-sided swelling. Seek urgent help for sudden vision changes, severe eye pain, marked swelling, or facial weakness.

Ask whether your lines are dynamic or etched, whether the skin is sun-damaged, which products are safe near your eyes, and how each procedure could affect expression, swelling, and recovery.
