What should you know about extensive diverticular disease?

Diverticulosis means pouches in the colon wall. Diverticular disease usually refers to symptoms associated with those pouches, such as recurrent discomfort or altered bowel habits. Diverticulitis describes inflammation or infection. A report saying extensive disease may refer to the amount or distribution of diverticula, not necessarily an active flare.
