What should you know about eno for acid reflux?

Eno is an effervescent antacid product used for temporary relief of heartburn or indigestion. It works by neutralising stomach acid, so it does not correct the reason acid is moving up into the oesophagus. Reflux may cause a burning feeling behind the breastbone, a sour taste, cough or disturbed sleep. Follow the product label and check with a pharmacist or clinician if you have kidney disease, need to limit sodium, take regular medicines, or are pregnant. Leave suitable spacing from medicines when advised, because antacids can affect absorption. Smaller meals, avoiding personal triggers, remaining upright after eating and raising the head of the bed may reduce episodes. Get emergency help for chest tightness with breathlessness, sweating, faintness or pain spreading to the arm, back or jaw. Arrange prompt medical review for trouble swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, repeated vomiting, unexplained weight loss or symptoms that keep returning.
