What should you know about elasticum thread lift?

An Elasticum thread lift places flexible threads beneath the skin to provide temporary lifting support and stimulate a local healing response. It may soften the appearance of mild sagging, but it is not equivalent to removing excess skin with a facelift. Suitability depends on skin laxity, tissue thickness, facial movement and medical history.

The clinician marks the treatment area, uses local anaesthetic or another agreed comfort measure, and guides the threads through small entry points. Polydioxanone thread is one material used in thread-lift procedures; Elasticum systems may use a flexible elastic support designed for tissue repositioning. Swelling, bruising, tightness, asymmetry or dimpling can occur during recovery.

A thread lift is generally considered for selected areas with early or moderate laxity, not for every degree of sagging skin. The visible change and its duration vary between people.

Tell the clinician about medicines, bleeding problems, immune conditions, dental work, active skin infection and previous reactions to anaesthetic or threads. Follow instructions about washing, shaving and medicines before the appointment. Afterward, avoid rubbing the treated area, wide mouth movements, strenuous exercise and pressure on the face until cleared. Sleep and wound care should follow the clinic’s specific advice.

Contact the clinic if pain, swelling, redness, warmth, drainage or asymmetry is worsening, or if a thread becomes exposed. Seek urgent assessment for fever with rapidly spreading redness, severe pain, facial weakness, breathing difficulty or an acute allergic reaction. Prompt review can help identify infection, thread displacement or another complication.
