Eczema Pimples: What They May Be

Eczema bumps are often itchy and sit within dry, irritated, or scaly skin. They may become sore or ooze after scratching. Acne more often produces blocked pores, blackheads, whiteheads, or tender spots in oil-prone areas. Folliculitis begins around hairs and may look like several similar pus-filled bumps, sometimes after shaving, sweating, or friction.

Perioral dermatitis and rosacea can also cause facial bumps with burning or redness. The location, itch, scale, hair follicles, and presence of comedones help guide diagnosis; a photograph alone may not be enough.

Cleanse gently and avoid picking, scrubbing, fragranced products, and heavy occlusive products that sting or worsen bumps. Use a plain moisturiser on dry eczema-prone areas. Pause shaving over irritated skin and change sweaty clothing promptly. Avoid using acne acids, antibiotics, or steroid creams without advice, since the wrong product can irritate eczema or mask another rash.

Arrange an appointment if bumps persist, spread, recur in the same area, or leave marks. Seek prompt care for rapidly increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pus, severe pain, eye involvement, or fever. A clinician can inspect whether spots centre on follicles, contain comedones, or sit within an eczema flare before choosing treatment.
