Does salpingectomy treat blocked fallopian tubes?

A blocked tube can prevent sperm and egg from meeting, depending on where the blockage is and whether the other tube works normally. Salpingectomy is removal of a fallopian tube, so it cannot restore passage through that tube. If one tube is removed and the other is open and healthy, natural conception may still be possible. If both tubes are affected, your fertility plan may involve assisted conception. The decision depends on imaging, previous pelvic infection or surgery, symptoms, ovarian reserve and your plans for pregnancy.
