Does Meniere's disease cause dizziness?

Meniere's disease affects the inner ear, which helps control hearing and balance. Dizziness may feel like spinning or movement and can arrive in episodes, sometimes with nausea, ear fullness, ringing, or fluctuating hearing. Between episodes, balance may still feel unsettled. Dizziness has many possible causes, including medication effects, migraine, blood-pressure changes, and neurological problems, so a new or unusual pattern deserves assessment rather than self-diagnosis.

Sit or lie somewhere safe when dizziness begins, keep your head still, and avoid driving, heights, and machinery until your balance has recovered. Sip fluids if you can and take prescribed medicines according to instructions. Arrange a medical review for recurring attacks, hearing changes, or ringing. A clinician may ask about episode timing, triggers, ear symptoms, medicines, and falls.

Seek emergency care for sudden weakness or numbness, facial drooping, trouble speaking, severe new headache, fainting, chest pain, or difficulty walking that is new or severe. Urgent assessment is also needed for sudden hearing loss, repeated vomiting, or dizziness after a head injury.
