How it helps

Dioralyte is an oral rehydration solution designed to help the gut absorb water and salts. Vomiting can lead to dehydration and may occur with Gastroenteritis, Food Poisoning, Rotavirus Infection, Migraine, Gallstones, Pancreatitis, or Meningitis. The drink supports fluid replacement but does not diagnose or treat these causes.

Taking small amounts

Mix the sachet exactly as directed. Once retching settles, take tiny, frequent sips; increasing the amount gradually is often easier than drinking a full glass. Avoid alcohol and very sugary drinks. If a child is vomiting, obtain age-appropriate advice from a pharmacist or clinician. Keep the person resting and monitor alertness and urination.

When to seek care

Seek urgent help for blood or green vomit, severe abdominal pain, stiff neck, severe headache, confusion, fainting, chest pain, or inability to keep any fluid down. Get prompt advice for signs of dehydration, repeated vomiting, or vomiting after a head injury. Babies, older adults, and people with significant medical conditions can deteriorate quickly.
