What should you know about diode laser underarm?

The underarm has a curved, folded surface that can be sensitive and exposed to rubbing, sweat, deodorant, and shaving irritation. A diode laser directs light toward pigment in the hair, where it becomes heat around the follicle. The clinician must keep the handpiece in suitable contact and account for uneven contours and skin pigmentation.

You may feel brief warmth, snapping, or tenderness during a session. Hair does not all respond at the same time because follicles move through different growth phases, so treatment is usually planned as a course rather than judged from one visit.

Arrive with clean, dry skin unless your provider gives different instructions. Avoid applying deodorant, fragrance, or irritating products immediately before treatment. Tell the clinician about recent tanning, a rash, cuts, hidradenitis-like lumps, medicines that increase light sensitivity, or a history of dark marks after skin injury.

Follow the shaving instructions and avoid waxing or plucking when the follicle is the treatment target. Afterwards, wear loose clothing, reduce friction, and use only the recommended gentle products until the skin feels settled. Do not scratch or pick at treated skin.

Contact the clinic if underarm redness worsens, pain becomes strong, swelling persists, or blisters, crusts, or new dark or pale patches appear. Seek medical care for pus, spreading warmth, fever, or a painful lump. Pause deodorant and further laser treatment if the skin is reacting until you receive advice.
